United way

Recently, a leading educational company came to SwagCycle with 1000 obsolete 25-ounce BPA-free aluminum sport bottles. The marketing messaging was no longer current, and the company didn’t have a need for the branded bottles any longer.

This company is a forward-thinking organization, and was pleased to have us help facilitate charitable donations of these bottles to worthy causes, thus keeping them out of a landfill, or even a scrap metal or other recycling plant.

We were able to split the bottles between 2 leading charities:

United Way Greater Boston Project Connect 2019

This event, held by the United Way Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, is a fantastic cause. Per the United Way’s website:

“Greater Boston Project Connect is a one-day, full-service event that invites our entire community to come together in support of families in transition, who are experiencing homelessness, or are in need of any of the services offered at the event. We gather employers, service providers, and resources from across Greater Boston to give their time and energy to helping every participant who walks through the door.”

The other recipient of these bottles is the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. According to their website, they work “tirelessly to ensure all young people in our community have the opportunity to realize their full potential.” They serve more than 14,000 children in the Boston area every year. The bottles we helped donate will be distributed at their summer camps this summer. As they explain on their website, “Our full-day fun-filled camps for children ages 6-12 are designed to keep young people off the streets, educate them during the non-school months to help prevent summer learning loss, and provide recreational experiences to which they might not otherwise have access. Campers participate in a diverse roster of activities, including arts and crafts, science and technology projects, sports, field trips, and, lots of swimming!”

We couldn’t imagine 2 more worthy causes, and we’re thrilled that SwagCycle was able to help make this happen!
